Sexual Assault & Traumatic Injury: Finding Our Voices

  • First Congregational Church 1701 Southwest Collins Avenue Topeka, KS, 66604 United States (map)

Join author and psychotherapist Aíne Nevar as she shares the story of discovery of the voices within.  Aíne, born Ann Reed, is launching the nationwide "Birth Cry Journey 2017" from Topeka, the city of her birth and where she raised her five children.  "One of my abusers was a TWHS school teacher," she states.  "He was a pedophile who molested many high school girls back in the late 60s and early 70s.  With threats of destroying his family if I told, he took away my voice, my power.  No more, never again.  Now it's my turn to speak up and tell the truth, especially for other teenagers who are being molested.  I speak for you, I call you forward.  You do not need to suffer in silence any longer."

Author Aíne Nevar is in a unique position of being both a licensed clinical social worker AND an individual who has grappled with the devastating affects of sexual trauma, PTSD, and Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder).

There will be a book-signing after the presentation.
